th400 or powerglide help...
Well, I'm at a crossroads on what transmission I should consider for my new setup, either a powerglide or a th400? New combo is a twin turbo ERL 427 looking to push between 1000-1300rwhp. Car is going to be just a weekend toy/street car with some 1/4 mile track time. Car is a full weight 1999 convertible trams am, I would say somewhere in the range of 38-3900#. I like the idea of only 1shift and the milder launch with a powerglide but worried I'm too heavy. I will have either transmission built for my power level with a transbrake and converter to match my setup. Which of these should I consider? Any help would be much appreciated.

A TH400 will be more streetable.
They will both likely perform similarly at the track. If you are at the higher end of the power (1300) the Glide MIGHT have a slight advantage. At the lower end, TH400 done properly will go faster.
At your weight and power, if it were mine, it would get a TH400. TH400 will be less expensive too.
