Default Pretty sure my stock 4l60 just told 525rwhp to kick rocks

Was making a nitrous pass, and at about 110mph I heard a LOUD bang, like a gunshot, and then I started to feel vibrations. Babied the car until I got home but couldn't go over 15-25mph without the car feeling like it was going to shake and fall apart.

Weird thing though, is that if I'm at speed, say 30mph, and shift from OD into Neutral, the vibration goes COMPLETELY AWAY, so it makes me think the Trans is done.

This is my first time having any issues like this, so just wanted to verify with you all here on tech that this was in fact my transmission (stock 4l60) before I decide to go built 4l65 or 4l80.

Thank you so much for the help

I would jack it up and check driveshaft, torque arm, control arms and everything before I call it a transmission failure. But with that said, if it didn't go, it soon will at that power level.

It sounds (all puns intended) like a bad sun shell. If the vibration only occurs in 3rd (and 1st) and goes away in 2nd and 4th, you can be pretty sure it is the sun shell.
However, as suggested, most vibration problems are due to mounts and driveshafts.

How many miles is on your 4L60? The reason why I ask is, mine has 17k original miles, I am in the process of installing H/C/I and torn between running it as is or building it. I have read of several making 10 sec passes on the stock 60 and some have failed with just bolt-on power. I am guessing mileage plays a big factor. I am currently running a FTI-3800 stall with a shift kit and cooler, the stock 60 has performed flawless. I did spend a lot of time dialing in the trans tune and I never kick it down. Normally if I go wot, I slow down and manually down shift or roll out of first. Thx

Run the stock unit as long as you can. I ran 440rwhp through the stock 4l60 for 15k miles with zero issues.

However, 3 bottles of nitrous later and it's a different story...

Update though, the issue might be something else, ill update this thread when I have a chance to throw it up on jackstands later tonight.
