Default 4l60e to 4l80e

Ive found a shop in knoxville tn that can do the 4l60e conversion. They are going to charge $1,350 for labor alone. The provided parts will cost around $2,200 they said. The finished price would be around $4,000 according to them, does that seem pretty steep? The provided 4l80e costs 1,200 with a 6 month warranty and has 85k miles. Even with that price, should the rest of the parts needed to complete the conversion cost an extra 1000 dollars? If not, where can I buy the needed parts so I can save some cash. Thanks for the help.

Are you providing your own 4l80 or using theirs? Il end up spending maybe a little over $4k on my conversion. That's counting tune, their core, harness, tci flexplate, converter, Trans crossmember, new Trans cooler and yoke.

They are providing the trans. Just seems like I could buy the parts necessary a lot cheaper than they are charging.

After reading the 320+ posts in the following thread, you might find $4000 reasonable:

Get it in writing that the job includes the proper harness and tune to properly shift the 4L80E. Also new cooling lines and a large external cooler mounted in front of the radiator. Also make sure it includes a quality aftermarket converter and not an OEM one. Quality 4L80E converters are $750++.
