I have a 2003 5.3 from a suburban for my swap. What year trans can I pull from??

Correct with one exception - a Vette 4L60E will not work as it is LT-style and not LS-style.

So any non-Vette '98 -'07 4L60E/4L65E/4L70E from an LS engine or even most 4.3 V6 engines. Make sure it has the bolt hole in the 12 O'Clock position which indicates it has the 300mm input shaft.
The '03+ came stock with a stronger sun shell and a few other improvements.
You might want to install a Vette servo and have a trans shop check the servo end play and adjust it (lengthen it) to be within spec.
