4l80e no manual low engine braking, reverse is perfect. My current 80e has the following modifications
6 clutch direct with internal dual feed
Tightened up intermediate clutch with 1 th400 steel
Sonax boost valve and line to lube pressure regulator valve.
Direct clutch check ball removed.
3rd and 4th accumulators blocked with set screw.
Lighter spring in acc valve to lessen 2nd gear accumulation.
Any idea why the only issue I have is lack of engine braking in manual first?

Did you figure out the problem? I have a home built manual control 4l80e with the same problem.
Everything works correctly including lockup but no engine braking in manual low.

No I did not. I am selling the transmission with this "problem" although I think it is just a side affect of one of the check ***** being removed. If the manual low band was bad I would have no reverse.
