I bought this trans and wanted to know if anyone has any info on what might be done to it or who built it. The guy i bought it from said he bought it in a car he was parting and it was "built" but has stock shift servo.

never heard of it..but if it has a stock servo im almost positive it will not be a built unit

that's what I was thinking but I got a half way good deal on it. The guy was running a 250 shot and lifting tires off the ground. I did not think a stock 4l60e could do that.

If you are referring to the servo cover, a fancy one only indicates that it has a billet 4th gear servo. If you aren't racing in 4th gear, or pulling a trailer in a truck, you don't really need a billet 4th gear servo. More for looks than need; many good builders will skip it.

Be sure you are getting the correct type of trans - the LT-style and LS-style are incompatible.

Most likely whoever built the trams was proud of it and chiseled their initials into it.

Yes i was referring to the servo cover. i just went from 273 gears to 342. so there was no chance in hitting 4th gear before.

my original plan was going to find someone to put some new clutches in for me and tell me what was done because fluid was a little dark when i bought it. but stock 165000 mile trans did not make it through the dyno with new build, so had to get trans in so it can get tuned.
