Default LS3/4l70E Trans heat issues Jeep TJ

I have a new GM connect cruise package installed into a 2000 jeep tj, Gm claims 525 hp. I have a atlas transfer connected to the 4l70E then the rearends are geared at 5.38 running 41.5 tires on aluminum beadlocks. I have no overheating issues on the highway, just when running hard offroad. the trans will overheat (230+) in about 20 min of hard driving in sand. I have tried several coolers, I am now running the biggest B&M supercooler but with no fan. the cooler is mounted first behind grill and spaced 2 inches from radiator. I believe the main issue is my exhaust, I added a picture showing the stainless headers and crossover pipe. this was my only option for running the exhaust and keeping it protected from rocks and obstacles, with the suspension and driveshaft also limiting my options. I also added some DEI wrap heat shields between the crossover and top of trans, helped a little. I am trying to decide if ceramic coating entire exhaust will help or do I need to swap transmissions to something like a streetfighter from TCI. just looking for some opinions. The trans runs 180 all day on interstate, but when offroad with tires aired down you can see temps start to climb and wont stop unless i park and let it cool. the temp gauge is in a TCI deep pan. Trying to fgure out if I have a exhaust issue or if the trans is not able to turn the tires. If you need anymore information just ask. thanks

I don’t think the exhaust is the main source of heat in the trans. You didn’t say what toque converter you were using. High stall TCs build a lot of heat at low speeds. It sounds like you have an air flow problem. Try mounting an electric fan on the trans cooler and if that doesn’t completely solve the problem try mounting an electric fan under the jeep somewhere to blow some of the exhaust heat away from trans.

I think an electric fan on the trans cooler will go a long ways to cool that thing down. You may even try running through the stock radiator trans cooler first and then through the B&M cooler or even add another B&M cooler with electric fan in series. You will just have to experiment until you get the temp to where you want it.
