Transmission build Q
Transmission build Q Got a 99 Trans am with the 4l60e and broke my sun shell the other day. Just wanted to ask for any recommended upgrades to parts while I'm in there. I was kinda looking at the TCI super pro kit but not sure of that's a decent kit or not and if there is anything else I should swap out. Any thoughts and experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

GM upgraded the sun shell to a heat treated one in 2003. Better yet is the Sonnax Smart Shell (about $95) used in every sponsor's high end builds.
While not a sponsor (yet) lots of members here have been very happy with custom kits from ebay seller TruTechTrans. Owner Jeff will put a custom kit together with exactly what you need, no more, no less.
Of course rebuilding a trans yourself is a tricky process. Sponsors FLT, RPM and Performabuilt sell excellent performance transmissions starting aroung $1500-$1600.
If you really are determined to rebuild it yourself, there are many threads to help you out.
