Default 4l60e problem

Ok my original transmission went out so I bought a used one off of Craigslist to get me by until I can convert it to 6 speed. The transmission shifts fine if I just putt around but when I get on it real hard it won't shift past 2nd gear. I can stop shut the car off and start it right back up and it goes back to driving normal. I have only got to drive the car 60 miles since I have bought it and I'm getting discouaged. I also put in a fti 3200 stall when I done the cam swap. If anyone could help thank you very much.

Tell us more what happens when you are in 2nd and increase the speed/RPM?
Does it simply hit the rev limiter while in 2nd gear?
Or does feel like it is slipping badly (like in neutral) as it hits the rev limiter.
What year car and trans is this?
You mention shutting the car off - does that you mean you get a code?
Have you scanned the engine and trans for codes?

The more info you give us, the more we can help.

When in 2nd it'll just hit the limiter. I scanned it this morning but no codes showed up. It's a 99 trans am and if I'm correct the trans in it now came out of a 2000 silverado. When it hits the limiter it's still pulling hard.

What poistion is the shifter in when it does it ? D3 or OD. I assume u had it tuned after cam and stall went in? Mine would hit the limiter and not shift to 3rd til I lift the throttle in d3 but not OD

So you mention having to shut the ignition off and it goes back to normal? Usually that indicates a fault code has been thrown.

It does it in d3. It won't shift from 1st to 2nd without lifting and won't shift from 2nd to 3rd at all.

When u say "won't shift 2-3 at all"is that also in d3 or at all in any position. And have you double triple checked the fluid level, u didn't say anything about tuning need to know that also

Before the old trans when out did it still have stock converter and cam? How did that one shift out? Have u had the pressure checked yet? If pressure is good I'm leaning towards the tune being the issuse.

I had the same cam and the same stall. When I swapped the trans I bought a new converter. The old trans went out because of pump failure. I have not got the pressure checked yet.
