Default trans temp gauge

where is the best place to hook up my trans temp gauge??

right now I have the factory cooler lines but I will take those out and run braided line to a bigger cooler in the near future..

Is there a test port I can use on the transmission that will give me good readings??

You can put the sensor in the pressure port on the side of the transmission case, get a bung welded into the pan, or you can use a scan guage that plugs into the obd2 port. I have an aeroforce scanguage and it was money well spent.

I have heard that in the pan is the best, but I have no evidence of that. I used the Pressure port and it works fine there, it is just a little delayed. I know its delayed because I have an aftermarket TCU, which lets me watch the temps as well like mjs1012 mentioned through the obd port (I believe the stock temp sensor is in the VB?). The two spots are always within a few degrees of each other.

Yes, the stock temp sensor is in the valve body. I have been told that the temperature difference between reading from the pan vs. using the obd2 port, ie a scan gauge, is about 10 degrees give or take with the pan sensor reading cooler.

I did the pan. I know how to weld, the pan is steel, it made sense. I can see why people use the pressure port due to ease of access.
