Default fluid removal

had my trans fluid changed a little while ago and while checking it, it seems to be a little overfilled. Can I use something that will suck some out via the dipstick tube? (a big syringe and some tubing?)

How much overfilled? It's better to have a small amount over IMO.

For the most part if it's slightly overfilled it should purge through the vent tube.

In the future either get a pan with a drain on it or get a kit to install one in your pan. It's worth it's weight in gold. I did a filter swap over the weekend and it's the first time I've had the pan off without making a mess from hell.

1/2 quart overfilled will help with hanging in 2nd gear at the track

if its a quart or more over get a fluid evacuation pump and suck it out , I have a Tempo brand one and have used it for so many things over the years , got it for doing oil changes on my boat but have used it for so many other automotive fluid extraction jobs I would be lost without it

I just use a $8 fluid pump from Harbor Freight. Stick one end down the dipstick tube and the other into an old milk jug and give it a couple pumps.
I also suggest this method for pumping out as much ATF as possible when you don't have a drain plug; you can get 4-5 quarts out quickly.
