Still no 2nd or 4th check everything has New band spacer plate

After pulling the trans I replaced the spacer plate.I checked to make sure the 2 4 band pin was installed correctly. Applyed air to the servo it was engaging like it should so I put everything back together.I reinstalled the trans took a test drive I still don't have 2nd or 4th ? Could it be something with the servo itself ?

Thank you for clearing that up. I don't recall a single thread where anyone reported a 2nd gear problem that wasn't due to excessive end play, torn servo seal or incorrectly installed band. Off hand, I don't know what VB problems could cause this.

Are you sure you don't have 4th either? With enough speed will it shift from 1st to 3rd and then nothing more?

Curious, how did you air test the servo? I know there is a 4th servo drain hole that can be used for testing, but don't know of any easy test for the 2nd servo. (Other than a test plate which replaces the VB, but few have that.)

I'm not sure about 4th because in overdrive I get up to about 70mph and nothing more in overdrive it doesn't shift at all it seems, when I manually shift from first there is no 2nd but it will shift to 3rd no 4th.I tested the servo with my air compressor with blow tip i used the hole in the case below the servo

OK. Sorry, but I am stumped. That hole under the servo is the 4th piston drain, which can be used for an air test test.

Could forward sprag be the problem? TORQUE CONVERTER?

No, the forward sprag affects 1st, 2nd and 3rd equally. Even with a broken forward sprag you can manually start in 1st and manually shift to 2nd, 3rd and 4th when the car has enough speed.

The torque converter affects all gears and even reverse equally as it has no idea (must be dumb) what gear you are in.

When you tore the Band out the first time....Was the Band burnt?

What band did you reinstall? wide/stock?

You should not need 2 "Gold Spacers" Most 4L60E's come with a 2 groove "Mid-length" apply pin, With a GOOD reverse input drum.....You should only need 1 spacer.

Did you pull the Input Drum & Reverse Input Drum & Check the Reverse Input Drum surface? Good time to at least check the 3-4 clutches as well.

This "replacing a Friction" **** rarely works out.

I've replaced it with the stock band ,reverse drum looked good the 3-4 clutches were a little worn.I've tried with 1 washer and the two washers still no 2nd.
