Default 4l60e or 4l80e???? HELP!!

Any current input would be greatly appreciated. As I already know this topic has been beaten like a dead horse but I am going to take a couple swings at it. I am currently in a crisis on what transmission I need in my car. I currently have a 60e that was built but obv not WELL enough. My car makes low 500 to the wheel and I have in the future plans to spray it around a 100 shot. I have called many different companies jakes, rpm, preformabuilt etc...... some say a 60e will handle it just fine and others say I need the 80e in my car. I am just curious what everyone is currently running and what advice anyone would have for me.

THANKS!!

A nice stock rebuilt 80E with a kit would handle what you want
Prob a 60E with good hard parts would work also work, lots of opinions either way-just reading what people say, 600 seems to be around the cutoff of a 60E, with upgraded parts
If you have the room and skill to install an 80E, prob now is the time
Some guys stick with the 60E because that's what they have room for
Then again, some guys cant get a built trans to last behind a 200 HP engine, where another can get the same trans to live behind a 600 HP engine, lol
I build my own trans (80E's), no builder for sure, but some of it is common sense, checking everything, and using tips builders are kind enough to offer-all my engines have been boosted, I just don't worry about the trans
Your results may vary

Ya I believe the 80e is probably my best option just because I plan on going 408 in the next couple years. What company should I trust to build one?

And I also think you are on the border where a 4L80E makes sense.
While a $4000+ 4L65E would probably handle your power just fine, a more modestly priced 4L80E can easily handle even your future plans.

I wouldn't think twice about not going 80e. I've destroyed FLT level 7 60e's in my 4500 truck making 480rw. I was tired of worrying about it every time I snapped the throttle. I spent 500 on a used 80e, 1k for a yank stall, and another 500 in shift kit and misc swap parts. I sprayed 150 out of the hole, through the shifts, and drove the truck home that night with nothing but a smile on my face. Power loss is negligible, and NA for NA I actually gained a 10th.
