Default Ordering TC soon: Vig or Yank

Most people don't have too much bad to say of either of these converters and I am going to order one soon-prolly within the week. I just saw today that tbyrnemotorsports.com has Yanks for almost the same price as Vigs. So would it be better to go with a Vig 3200 or a Yank 3200. The Yank says the STR is 2.00. I think that the STR on the Vig is 2.5 but I could very well be wrong about that. Any opinions? I'm still prolly going for the Vig, but I could go either way on this.

No question...Go with the Vig 3200. Great track converter and a great street converter.

car MUST stay reliable for at least 3 more years to get me through school. I don't want to have to rebuild the **** so I wanted to go to a more conservative stall. Also-it's for my LS1 which is a daily driver more or less (except in the winter).

If you want a Yank I would probably look at the SS series. I have run 4000+ stall converters and so have many others on the street daily. Where are you getting this idea that a higher stall will make you have to "rebuild" anything verses a smaller stall?? If you do some searhes you will find why people have trans problems. I have read of some people going through a couple transmissions a year, but then my trans has never been thouched. Your car will become less reliable when you start going into the engine.
Do you plan to hit the track occasionally? For streetability and performance I would get a Yank SS converter or look at the TCI SSF(??) series (3500 or 3800). Do some searches for those and see what you come up with.

Default Have you concidered Midwest?

I know this is not what you're asking, but I have a Midwest 3000 stall, 2.5 str and I love it! The only reason I bring it up is because they are conciderably cheaper than the converters you are looking at and I've had nothing but good experience with mine. Just a thought.

I have a Yank SS3800 and I've driven a Vig 3200. The Yank feels much tighter than the Vig which is better for daily street driving. I think the Vig 3200 actually has a 2.0STR and the SS3800 has a 2.55STR. If you want quality and performance along with better road habits, get the Yank.

I went with a Midwest 3800/2.6, and I love it. I believe it was 450 to my door! I think if you put a 3200 in your car, you will wish you put a bigger stall in it. My car used to be kind of a dog when I stood on it at 40-50. Now it jumps right into the power band whenever you hit it. There's no way I'll ever put a smaller stall in!
