Ok this is going to some what of a budget build for me and im debating on buying a trans or building it. this will be my first tans that i will build. with that being said can i get some pointers on what route i should go.i have a 98 camaro mods are and i bought the car in may it was bone stock this is my DD and family car too
btr cam
243 heads complete worked by tsp
fast 90/ nw 92 with a NX fogger 200 shot setup
tsp 1 7/8 headers with their true duels set up
complete BMR suspension k member upper and lower control arms, 4 point sub frame connectors, their drag pack set up, lca's, pan hard bars. koni and bmr springs, everything is adjust. stock 10 bolt
tuned by pat g
so far this is what i came up with
sonnax performance pack
sonnax smart shell
sonnax heavy duty 2-3 shift valve
sonnax 4th gear super hold servo
sonnax smart tech input housing
kevlar band
5 pinion input and reactor carriers
billet output
B/W hi energy clutchs
new solenoids and wiring

You do not need 5-pinion planets, I have never seen a busted carrier from too much power! Failures are from the captured Torrington coming apart or a worn out Planetary.

I am a firm believer in replacing planets on 4L60E's, It is depressing to have a planet failure shortly after a rebuild.

You need this bearing between the Reaction Shaft & Reaction Sun Shell, Eliminating the Thrust washer you have now,

Probably need a new Separator Plate, Trans Go 46-PLT-96.

On the Sonnax Performance Pack, Do Not install the Accumulator Valve Spring Shim!
If running a Sub-2800 Stall converter Drill hole "B" 2nd Clutch to .076", 3000+, Drill to .086".

I recommend Sonnax "Wide" Sungear & Stator support Bushings as well. These bushings can be a bear to install for a "Novice". I do not hammer these bushings in, I use a Arbor press.

All that said, You are spending quite a bit on your 60E when a 80E with a quality rebuild, dual feeding the directs, Higher rate direct clutch return springs, HD intermediate snap ring, Billet forward hub & a larger ratio boost valve will get you farther in terms of reliability for close to the same money....I think cheaper when your talking about a $600+ Input Drum for your 60E!

Clinebarger, what is the accumulator valve spring shim supposed to do and why do you say to leave it out? I left mine out because, IIRC, it makes shifts harder than I wanted.

The Shim "Up's" Accumulator pressure & effects 1-2 & 3-4 shift feel, Mostly the 1-2 shift. Too harsh of a 1-2 shift is hell on the geartrian, splines, output shaft etc. That's why I leave the shim out.

Thank you for explaining that. I think the 1-2 shift has a pleasant kick with Corvette servo and Sonnax boost valve. I wouldn't want it to become excessive for my around-the-city daily driver.

These are available at reasonable cost from FinishLine Transmissions (FLT). PATC sells an inferior one at a much higher price.
