Performabuilt Level 2 4L60e Testimonials
I'm still breaking it in, so no hits yet. Rain+et streets+4000 stall don't go well together. I will say I followed the startup directions on the Performabuilt site and it went flawlessly. The trans drives similar to stock driving normally. The stall is loose but not bad at all for a 4000 hard hit. Certainly streetable for a car that's a weekend toy. You know it's there, but it locks up and everything. I also had my tuner return the line pressure to stock as recommended by Frank.
I had to call a couple of times with questions and each phone call was returned and I got excellent customer service. Those guys are true professionals and I'd buy from them again.
So, as soon as it's broke in I'll set my shift points, and hit the track! Hopefully next weekend.
Then it was time for the fun. The stall hits hard at 4000 (it is a hard hit lol) and the et streets that spun very little with my stock stall now spin pretty hard!
The transmission shifts are hard and fast under wot. Had to adjust the Rev limiter for the 2-3 shift because it would hit the Rev limiter before shifting. One quick call to Frank and problem solved.
Converter locks up under normal driving and feels like a stock converter/trans going down the highway.
I also installed a bmr chromoly torque arm and a bmr torque arm relocation crossmember. I took my time and got a pinion angle of -3 degrees. Car is much stiffer now with this setup. I don't notice the torque arm road noise like I've read about. The car has very little flex, but no annoying road clunks.
I'd recommend Performabuilt and fti to anyone. The customer service is first class, I can't say enough good about those guys.
As soon as my track opens I'll post times.
I have a level 2 performabuilt. Been rebuilt about 3 times so far in the last 3 years from the 3-4 constantly going out. Had it rebuilt locally the last time by a reputable builder. Drove it for 2 days before my motor popped but as far as normal driving goes, its shift firm but not too noticeable. WOT its another animal. I always wondered how they can offer the trans for quite a bit less than others and rate it for the hp that they do but anywho some people have had good luck, some didnt. When i get this car crunk this week and if this trans can hold the power for a while without dying i may shop again for a built 4l70e for my trailblazer ss.
Haven't had my new setup on the dyno yet. Just put the new motor in. Forged 370/D1SC with 3.40 pulley. PTC 3500 converter. B&M 70274 cooler and braided lines. Aiming for 700 plus.
Ok just wondering. I'm just boltons so my stage 1 should be fine. Can't wait to break in the yank and feel the difference. Never driven a stalled car. My pcm from frost comes tomorrow. Not that I can drive it(upstate NY)
Over the years there have been several updates and changes to improve the level 2 both in the valve body modifications and clutches used . servos we make all reasonable upgrades as we find something we think will be better or sometimes one change makes another change a better idea , But yes we are always looking for better ways to make all our units stronger.

With my level 2 and fti 4000 hard hit I shaved .6 second down to a 12.29 with 1.7 60'. Transmission runs flawless and overdrive kicks in at 55 cruising the hwy. Not bad for a car with kooks headers, exhaust, slp lid, tune, and stock 2.73 gears.
I've been using performabuilt level3 4l60e with trans brake never had a problem with it over 4 years driven it everywhere and I'm spraying 200 shot of nitrous heads cam ls1...but I'm having a hard time rite now what to do I sold my ls1 and I'm building a 5.3 stroker383 ls going twin turbo 76s and my goal is 1300rwhp and i spoke with performabuilt and he said they have the new black label 4l60e that's rated for 1400rwhp and I don't know if its really gonna hold up..I was thinking about going powerglide..tell me what you guys think?

Id say your current trans has already paid for itself so what do you have to lose trying it. I'm sure your not going straight to 1000+who so you'll know when it's starting to slip. I'm sure you know they are good guys to deal with and they've got a decent price on the refresh along with being able to upgrade if you ask. Down time and shipping might hurt you some but I'm lucky and I'm about 45min away from them.
