You can also mix and match different thickness clutches and steels.

Not sure where you're located, but if there's a tranny shop nearby you should be able to pick up some thicker 3-4 steels pretty cheap.

2-3 steels of the next size up should be good. I was recommended to put them in the middle of the clutch pack.

ran into something today working on finishing the assembly now that the new pump arrived. the 1-2 sonnax pinless accumulator likes to pop down past the bevel on the housing and the d ring seems to be catching on it a bit and takes some effort to push it back past. even with the wavy washer they supply i dont think its holding it down past the bevel, is this going to cause binding issues or will there be enough pressure to overcome this until the d ring breaks in a bit? im not using the supplied spacer per the instructions just the 2 springs supplied.

Even without the Waved Spring, The D-ring will not come past the bevel at the top of the accumulator housing.

The Piston will move fine once Accumulator oil & 2nd clutch oil hits it.

youre right. finished up trans and got it back in the car tonight. drives awesome. havent stomped on it yet to see how firm it shifts, but it shifts nice and smooth cruising, almost unnoticeable (circle d 4c 3800 converter). im calling it a success so far
