Default Ls1 to TH350 issues

I am building a rock buggy, and am trying to use a 98 F-body LS1 and a th350.
The flex plate that came on the engine (stock I assume) is dished and has 2 different 3 bolt patterns, one of wich bolts to a summit 2500rpm converter I bought for it. I purchased the spacer that goes between the TC and the back of the crank, it's the press in spacer not the bolt in spacer. The issue is I put it all together and I have only about 1/16-1/8 of an inch of play forward and aft for the TC, and when you push it foreward the bolt pads are 1/8" from the flex plate. I can see that the spacer is bottomed out in the crank and there is a small gap between the face of the converter and the rear face of the spacer, but I cannot get the converter to slide forward enough to touch the flex plate.

no, the converter goes into the spacer not the crank. something is keeping it from going all the way in... I guess its time to pull it all back apart again

Can you take a picture of the setup? It was so long ago when I did mine but, something doesn't sound right. I bought a flexplate specifically made to swap my TH-400 to my LQ4.

I had to take an 1/8" off my spacer. I had 1/4 between the converter pads and flexplate. But the converter would only pull up and 1/8" and bottom out. Took 1/8 off the spacer and the converter pulls all the way up to the flexplate now. So I then used a 1/8" shim. This pulled the converter out of the trans 1/8" and left an 1/8" to the crank spacer for converter charge.
