Most would disagree.

In any case.....on the street I like more gear as I went up with more stall. At part throttle, more gear makes up for increased looseness a higher stall TC gives you.

Of course, at the track, the combination of more gear and stall can present a challenge.......you have really work to find that sweet throttle point that separates the difference between a strong launch versus 600 feet of wheel spin......

It will make the converter feel tighter down low.

The only difference you're going to notice between 3.42s and 3.73s with a SS3600 is a hundred more rpm with the latter at freeway cruising speeds.

3000 rpm highway cruising with 373's ?? either your highway cruising is at 80mph or it sounds like your buddies have older cars that would be cruising in a 1 to 1 gear rather than an overdrive trans , 3k @ 70ish was always accurate withy 373's back in the day before overdrive.

That being said even 342's will cruise higher than they did in your m6 car in 6th as that's a double overdrive gear

My 4.56s'/A4 was 2500 @ 60 and 3000 @ 72. With 3.73s that would be 2050 @ 60 and 2450 @ 72.

It's actually more like a couple hundred rpm difference 70-80mph. The one hundred difference is between 3.23/3.42.

that should work well , if it leaves you wanting more just take advantage of the 1 free re-stall and go up a bit more on the convertor that would yield a better gain than bumping the gearing up a single step IMO
