Thanks for all the help.
I will get out in the garage prolly Sunday afternoon to pull the pan. Weather has been nice so I've been cleaning up the yard.
The two solenoids from the picture from post #24 are, left to right, shift solenoid B (3-4) and shift solenoid A (1-2).
The one on the right of the picture from post #26 is the PWM solenoid and the left one is the 3-2 downshift solenoid.
Here's a picture to help you out. It can be a little confusing because the picture is flipped from what you'll see with the valve body still bolted to the transmission.
thanks coreyforsenate and to everyone who has helped. So I've reread all the post and I believe this is a built trans made from several trans. Pretty sure it will work with my ls1 and lt type converter.
Since the TCC "Feel" and 3-2 downshift solenoids appear to be different, and their pictures match what I see in the ATSG Update manual, I think you have a '96+ valve body which will work fine with an LS1 PCM.
So Yes, you should be good to go and can assume this is "equivalent" to a '97 trans.
Good luck and let us know how it works out.
Trans is from a Trailblazer SS 4WD 6.0. These are the numbers on it. A tag that reads 8TKD, stamped 618TKDY46803378, 8037J (J?), 24235503. I need to know what I have before I have it reworked. Thanks everyone.
Likely a '08 4L65E/4L70E. It definitely has ISS (Input Speed Sensor) and the new style pump.
I would be interested to know if the valve body does or does not have the 3-2 downshift solenoid and whether it has the Manifold Pressure Switch.
If you are taking the pan off, a picture of the valve body area would help us determine exactly what you have.
Why do you need to know? Is it being rebuilt? By whom?
WOW! Can't believe I got a reply that quick! this site is the best, I have learned so much! I have a rebuilder that has done a th400 for me and I've referred him to others with no complaints. I have a 496ci mated to that th400 and it is BULLETPROOF! Car runs 9's on motor shifting at 7k. Trans is awesome. For $800 he will go thru it and make it strong enough to withstand the streetable hp levels (420 rwhp) I am building this 08 TBSS LS2 for. This includes converting the trans from AWD to 2WD and he will give me a TC from a pickup. I'd like to ask a couple questions if you don't mind. I have the stock TC from the TBSS but Circle D and Comp Cams both suggested a stall speed around 2800-3000 based on the cam I'm using. From this site and others, I read that a TC from the 6cyl TBSS would give me a stall around 2800. Would this work for me at that hp level? Or should I stick with the TC that came with the motor/trans or go with the TC from a pickup?
I would not recommend the i6 trailblazer converter also known as a VJ..they have too many problems with bearings coming apart in them..i would highly recommend circle d 278mm 3000-3200..works dam good for the price
