Question 4l60e 6 bolt tailshaft question-help

I bought a 4l60e transmission, didn't come with bellhousing or tailhousing. Its going on a 2000 LS1 5.7 in my 69 Camaro. I didn't realize when I ordered a bellhousing and tailhousing that my trans has the 6 bolt tailhousing mounting flange so I have a 4 bolt 98-02 f-body style tailhousing coming that I probably can't use.

My question is what is the cheapest path I can take to get a tailhousing that will...
1. mount to my 6 bolt 4l60e
2. allow the use of a factory style vss sender as would have been on 98-2002 f-body.

I will fab up whatever I need for a trans mount and cross member, so thats not a concern.

I know there are 6 bolt to 4 bolt adapters out there but the one I saw was like $280 and required a caprice tailhousing I think.

I just read somewhere that GM switched to a 6 bolt housing in 1999. Is that right? So there could be both 4 abd 6 bolt f-body style tailhousings available?

I have a 2 wheel drive chevy truck tail shaft housing with the mount for the vss, I was gonna use that and a torque arm relocation kit, however money is getting thin so I used one from an ls camaro. The truck housing is for sale if u want it, it's 6 bolt... Pm me if you're interested

I have no personal experience, but according to the ATSG Update manual, when the Bolt-On bell housing was introduced in 1996, the tail housing changed to the 6-bolt design.
According to that, '95 and earlier would be 4 bolt.
In line with 80/TA/LT1, I don't think the mentioned "4 bolt 98-02 f-body style tailhousing" exists; they are all 6-bolt.
Since you haven't yet received it, perhaps it was described incorrectly and you will receive the correct 6-bolt part.

Cool. I'm probably getting the right part then, I just ordered it along with the bellhousing without a picture or description. So its my own lack of knowledge about these parts that is probably the issue hopefully I'll be good to go once the parts arrive.

I just told the vendor I wanted a f-body style tailhousing for my 4l60e as it would have had from 98-02.

It's too bad u ordered one for an f body, they're pretty expensive compared to the others due to the torque arm mount, and since your camaro is older u don't need it, coulda saved some $$$
