Default 4l80e derale deep pan

In the process of doing my 4l80e swap in my 01 ws6 and I'm just curious for all those who have done the swap have you guys ever ran the derale deep pan on the 4l80e? It's about 1 1/2" lower than my headers and I'm afraid I'm going to smash it up...I'm running a B&m trans cooler so is the pan really that important or would I be fine without it?
Also would like some feedback on what fluid you guys run dex3 or dex6?

I ran the tci deep pan in my fbody, it hung low. If your are at stock ride height you might be able to get away with it with some caution.

If your lowered you will drag it on some driveways, not much but just a little. At least I did

As far as it being overkill would depend how hot is is where you live, how often you drive it, are you an aggressive driver and are always going WOT on straightaways, using a transbrake?

Well I ran regular dex 3

Google pictures of deep 4l80e pans.. I'm sure a few will pop up. Just be cautious with high speed bumps and driveways and you should be good

Yikes! I personally feel the standard steel GM pan is plenty. Hell it is low enough, I can't imagine another inch and a half. I would heed Burken01's warning if you do use it.

You can get the standard GM steel units with the drain plug for $40.
