Hey guys so I had my trans rebuilt for 1900 and it still doesn't shift out of first on wot. It hits rev limiter. Do you guys know what this could be?

Does your speedometer work?
Not shifting out of 1st is often either a VSS problem or bad shifter linkage.

My mechanic put a throttle block screw to try to remedy the shift problem obviously this limited power. He tested the solenoid's but I guess he didn't know about the vss sensor. He said my shift linkage looked good and it just adjusts about an eighth of an inch. Now im down to the vss sensor. How hard would it be to switch out the sensor?

So my shift linkage is good and replaced my speed sensor and MAF sensor. I got a Hypertech programmer and I was making sure the setting for 3.23 gears and tire height was correct. I am playing around with rev limiter and trans shift points. I reduced 1st gear shift -6 mph and i thought it helped go into gear better but it still bounces off rev limiter time to time. Do u think it's a tune issue?

Since you are tuning...
Did you reduce only the Partial Throttle shift table or did you also reduce the MPH in the WOT Shift MPH table? And what is the WOT Shift RPM table set to, especially compared to your rev limit?

Mrvedit. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I can't afford hptuners. I picked up one of those hypertech max energy programmers. I can only adjust rev limiter ,trans shift points gears tire height top speed trans firmness. I set rev limiter to 6200. Maybe I went the wrong way with the shift point? I programmed it to +3 in 1st gear. Honestly I'm just playing around.. hptuners is where it's at. Anyway. Why would my tune be messed up? Just curious. What if I buy another stock pcm off of eBay? U think I'll still have a shift issue?
