4l80e rebuild hard to turn
So I'm winding down on this 4l80e rebuild. I'm currently at the point of reinstalling the front pump. But have noticed that it is very difficult to turn the input shaft by hand. Matter of fact I have to get a rag and channel lock pliers to get it to turn either direction. Is this normal for a rebuild? Caused by new bushings? I've used plenty of lube on bushings throuth out the build. This was somewhat the case when I installed the rear plant assembly. Rear planet would turn 1 direction with some effort but not turn the other. In the rear planets case I've read that could be normal due to new bushings. Not sure with front input side. Rear planet end play was 0.012". Have not got to check what front is yet.
OK that's what I figured. Gonna pull every thing back out and refit these parts again. I know I did this with some of the parts but I know I didnt on the rear case bushing and reaction carrier bushing. Thanks once again Cline you have been a ton of help through out this build.
Reaction carrier bushing was definitely the problem, I remember it going in a bit crooked when I installed. This caused a high spot on the bushing that I over looked. When mated to the center support it would not turn at all. Removed this bushing and replaced it with a new one square and straight this time. These parts rotate smooth as butter now.
