4L80E, recalibrate speedometer, now no reverse.
Backed the car up to place it on ramps, pulled it forward onto ramps and shut it off.
Get back into the car and press my autometer speedometer calibration button prior to turning ignition key on. This causes the speedometer to peg at 180 mph.
I then try to back off of the ramps and no luck! Car no longer has reverse. I pushed it out if the garage and then drove around the block..all other gears work fine.
???I'm stumped. I reset the speedo and zeroed it but still no reverse.

Factory PCM.
Trans was rebuilt less than 500 miles ago. Worked awesome until today.
I unplugged all the connectors and same result, no reverse.
I'm gonna drop the pan tomorrow and see what I see.

With the trans harness disconnected the 4L80E will still have Reverse and 2nd gear.
With the trans harness disconnected the 4L60E will still have Reverse and 3rd gear.
In other words the PCM/TCM has no effect on Reverse.
Note that these transmissions will max the line pressure when the harness is disconnected.
Is the shift linkage aligned? Do you have Park?

Yeah, the shifter and everything is aligned. It's been working great until yesterday.
Park works.
I diconnected everything to see if it was an electrical issue related to the speedometer as that's the only thing that changed since I last had reverse.

Well, all I can say is this:
I recently changed my tire size, and lost 2nd gear within about 5 min of one another. IN the end, it was a stupid coincidence, and my band was worn.
I am just saying, stupid **** happens at the same time....sometimes.

Duh! My bad!
So your using the VSS off the tail housing to the VSS port on the back of the speedo?
I have the converter on the t350 thats in there now but uses a different port then the VSS
to signal the speedo.

I'm dragging it to jakes performance for a stage 3 built unit if they are unable to fix it. I'm getting screwed on this deal by the locals
I'm using the signal from one of the pcm wires if memory serves me correctly
Wow, that sucks!
It sure sounds like they have no idea how to diagnose the problem or not very good with 80E's.
So, let me get this right.
They "rebuilt" your trans, it get stuck or only goes into 2nd or 3rd and they want to give you back the car AND charge you for a non working "rebuilt" trans.
I would have to have a talk with my attorney. Then bring car to Jakes.

Does it just have 2nd, or rev and second-the trans could have lost +12
What kind of shifter-I have seen the inner liner melt if it goes across a muffler, create a problem.
I would have someone put it in each gear, and someone underneath removing it at each gear stop and make sure each gear is there.
