Default 4l80e rebuild and upgrade

I'm looking to get my 80 rebuilt and upgraded in the process. Currently running no computer and using a Jakes little black box for full manual control. What parts would be good upgrades for this project? Is there a forward pattern manual valve body what would still allow for torque converter lock up? Car is street driven mostly with a few track days thrown in during the summer. I switched to a carb and the black box was the cheapest and easiest way to stay up and running with no computer. Not sure if the trans is failing because of the black box or if its just time to die but shifts into 2nd and 3rd under moderate and heavy throttle are slow and I imagine my clutches are wearing out. I changed both shift solenoids with no luck on making it better.

Thanks,

Why would you suspect the clutches are wearing out?

Jakes will be able to hook you up with a valve body to your liking.

You would have give power/weight numbers to get good advice. Based on your signature, nothing fancy would be needed.
The Manual Control Box yields full line pressure like a racing transmission, so it won't cause clutch wear. It won't fix a worn out transmission though.

Probably just due for a rebuild.

Anything less than light throttle and the shifts are delayed and slow...feel like they drag the RPM down more than shifting and engaging the next quickly.

Package is Stock 5.3, MSD6010, Vic Jr., 750 carb. Car probably weighs around 3500lbs. New CircleD 3200 stall, 255/60/15 tires, 3.73 rear gears.

Just wondering if a shift kit or FMV or other upgrades would be worth it or beneficial over a basic rebuild. I'm sure my friends will convince me to get a plate kit and start spraying it by the end of next summer...

I like the Transgo HD-2 kits for the 80e, although I hear Jake prefers an alternative.
My 80e is bone stock with 150k and no rebuild with nothing but an HD2 kit and is holding ~850 hp.

It probably does need a few upgrades at some point, especially after the neutral drop incident.
