Would it be easier to drill a hole at the end of the yoke to vented ?

I have the same thing on my tail shaft.
My 400 yoke has a tiny hole in it.
Works no problem.

I'd take the sleeve off. Use a big wrench that fits over the output shaft but not the sleeve and tap the wrench with a hammer.
I really don't see the point of drilling a hole in a new yoke. What size hole? what if it's too small? what if it's too big?

Some came with no sleeve and no hole.

I believe that sleeve comes out the other way , towards the rear and I think I have to remove the output shaft .. maybe I'm wrong but it feels like drilling a very small hole would be easier just to let the air out.

That's exactly what it will do.
Good or bad, my trans guy left it in and there is no interference with the yoke he provided.
Just remember to bottom out yoke then pull out .75" to measure for driveshaft.

So i drilled a very smal hole and it when in perfect with no resistance. The only thing, I had to pull out a hole inch instead of .75" . If not I had to lengthen the drishaft . I have 4 inches of engagement. Is pulling 1 inch fine ?

Jack the vehicle up and let the rear wheels hang. Whats the measurement?
In other words, get the range of movement. Is one inch not enough with the suspension fully compressed? I'd have removed the sleeve and been done with it by now I think. Is the yoke counter bored? So you have 4" of spline engaged? or 4" of a counterbored yoke engaged?

Or google how to "measure driveshaft length" instead of taking random contradicting advice, read about how driveline shops size driveshafts. They've done it more times than anyone on this site.

When I measured mine it was sitting on a 4 wheel hunter alignment machine tables.
Bottomed out yoke, pulled out .75 and measured it.

I mentioned this to my drive shaft guy as he asked how we got the measurement and he shorten / made it.
He made this same DOM drive shaft for me 10yrs ago.

I've gotten a few drive shafts build and the instructions that they gave me is have al 4 wheel level , bottom out the yoke and pull .75 and measure .. now this time I had to pull 1 inch instead of .75 . What I'm wondering if that's ok . ( because I don't want to have to buy a new drive shaft )

As far as engagement I mean there is 4 inches where I have the spline engaged on the yokes teeths.

DD: The slip yoke should be able to go into the tailshaft of the transmission so the barrel is fully inside the seal. Then, pull out the yoke 1 inch. This is the correct amount of spline contact for the slip yoke.

Yeah in Denny's article he said the 1" is only to get the joint into the yoke of the rear.
He also said the driveshaft only moves .25" through its travel.
