Default 4l80e rebuilt, stiffer then before?

I have an 02 4wd 4l80e i just finished rebuilding with an hd2 shift kit and a red eagle upgraded clutch kit, im at the point were i bolt the fluid pump back to the front, but when i do it makes the whole trans way stiffer to turn, its impossible to turn by hand the tail or input shaft but with a wrench and a light amount of force ether one will turn ether direction smoothly and no weird noises, just a lot stiffer. Is this a sign something is messed up? Ive pulled it down and back together 3-4 times making sure everything is engaged and retryin and same consistant stiffness as before

Is this normal because of stiffer clutch springs and upgraded clutches or is there something wrong?

Thanks?

did you check end play front and rear? It wont be super easy to turn but if its really bound up you could have problem. I ve always been able to turn em by hand if theyre happy but they can be stiff. Ill assume you air checked all your clutch packs so they are splined and happy. Also double check your over run clutches are splined. I dont know if you could assemble it with a clutch out of spline without hearing a bunch of crunching but never know haha

I had to adjust end play front and back when I rebuilt mine.
With the proper clearances you can turn both ends by hand.

i did check the clutch packs with air, and i figured out my issue, last drum right before the fluid pump going in wasnt quite seated even after shaking the crap out of it lol, but it did one more click and everything dropped into it and fluid pump on i can spin by hand both shifts no issues fairly easy.

I found that's the best method. Shake the hell out of it then pick up and drop it. If you hear metal on metal it's down.

what is your end play on the input shaft? Does it have any?
