Default Super Turbine 300 2 speed transmission Torque converter

I have many oldsmobiles, but I only have 1 ST300 tranny, I purchased a new converter for the ST300 to use with my 330 oldsmobile engine, the original converter was damaged and leaking fluid. I tried to use other converters that I had from TH400, th350, and TH250 transmissions, none with fit the ST300, they would all go in almost all the way but would not engage the splines and stuck out about 2 inches. So I purchased a new converter, but it has the same problem as the others I tried. Please help

There were two variations of the ST300.
1964-1969 for Buick,Olds,& Pontiac
Also a variation 1964-1967 for Buick and Olds only. That variation had a variable pitch(variable stall speed) convertor. The tranny also had mods to accomplish that. A micro switch on the throttle linkage controlled the actuation.
So two different convertor versions could account for your problem.
