Extreme automatics recommended B&M trick shift to me and its been great. Hard shifts and when i sent it in due to broken forward planetaries, heat wasn't an issue.

The cheapest Dexron VI you can find. "Dexron VI" is not a brand, it is a trademarked specification belonging to GM. So basically anything marked "Dexron VI" will be identical.
Dexron 3 is the older specification and many pro builders still use it; saves a few dollars.
As mentioned even tractor fluid works. I suspect ATF is 98% tractor fluid and 2% additives, including red dye.
Some experts here said to avoid Trick Shift; it does not meet GM'sor any other manufacturer's specification and I have read of it gumming things up.

Dex/Merc (which is the current Dexron III equivalent, and what was originally issued in the 4L60E), any brand is probably fine but I use Valvoline. I would/do use this in everything from a stock to a stalled/built 4L60E, and also older transmissions such as my TH350 (also built with higher stall.)

DexIII spec fluid is still available under the "Dex/Merc" label, however DexVI has become the factory fill for GM automatics (as of 2006? I think.)

For what it's worth, Dex 6 fluids just have to meet the Dex 6 standard. They can exceed the standard and still meet the requirements.

Some are well above others in terms of quality. They all have to be at least a synth blend, a few of them are fully synthetic.

I've been using the Valvoline Dex 6 because it's fully synthetic. I've heard great things about redline D6 also, though I don't think it's Dex approved.

AC Delco dex 6 fluid is about $20-25 per gallon. I figured since they're OEM they probably make pretty good fluid and the price was right, so in my tranny it went.

I use the GM AC Delco stuff. I buy the gallon jugs and have found them for around $20. Works good for my needs.

Lonnie Diers at extreme automatics told me to run trick shift. No heat issue's or gumming in my transmission that just went in for broke planetaries. Said it looked great aside from broken planetaries which had nothing to do with fluid
