Default transmission dipstick

I've got a 02 Z28 that I put a 4l60e in. The transmission dipstick tube was history so I purchased a Lokar. Some may like them, but I am definitely not a fan. I would like to purchase a trans tube but I know the hassle of install. Could I loosen the strut bolts and slightly pick up on the body to give a little more room?

Default Alternative to Lokar Trans Dispstick

Hi. I have a 2002 SS engine with a 4L60E transmission and noticed this post. This is going into a Resto Mod 56 Chevy but I need a dipstick that looks good but is practical. I had thought the Lokar model might be the answer but have seen a great deal of dissatisfaction posted on this part. Is there an acceptable alternative I could consider?

Thants.

I took a truck dipstick (had it already) and cut the center out and added 3/4 inch heater hose (make sure total length stays the same) and made a makeshift flexible dipstick!!!! Works great. Can easily snake it down and install it without removing anything.

Thanks for you suggestion. I will look into this as a possibility.

Heater Hoses don't fair well with ATF.

Guess we will see how it holds up. It was a suggestion from a buddy who did it and it worked. The part that inserts into the trans is still metal, the rubber should not see trans fluid often. I think it will be ok. Could use a 3/4 trans cooler line if it's available to ease your worries.

I saw this while looking for a dipstick last night. Copied your idea and it works perfect. With the bottom part of the dipstick 6" or so long the only fluid the heater hose should see is when filling.
