Default Rubber plug in transmission pan

So I went to a junk yard 2 weeks ago to find a truck pan. I got one but noticed it had a rubber plug in it. So I went back today and noticed every single one had a rubber plug in it. The only one that didn't was a shallow pan. I wanted to use the truck pan in hopes I would benefit from the extra fluid it holds.

my question is, would you use a trans pan with a rubber plug? I really want to try the truck pan but i don't wasn't more headaches in the process.

No factory 4L60E pan had a rubber plug from the factory......

'98-'03 deep pans had a steel drain plug with a rubber gasket under the head.
Starting in '04 the drain plug was eliminated.
In '05, Gm put a "dip stick" stop in the pan & eliminated the valve body mounted stop.

If you don't care about the drain plug, GM 24240207 is super cheap at around $12.

I wouldn't use it, I work at a salvage yard, The plug is put in the pan after they puncture it to drain the fluid. It's only meant to keep them from leaking and contaminating the environment after they are placed in the yard.

They pierce them because it's quicker, Even if every trans pan had a plug like oil pans do they will still put a hole in it.

I guess I'm the only idiot that doesn't know. 99 tahoe filter doesn't fit in that pan. Another $20 lesson. So what filter goes with that pan?

I meant the deep pan filter. I got the deep pan filter for pre 03 and it didn't fit in the pan because of the notch in the corner. I'm thinking the post 03 deep pan filter is shaped different because of that notch.

I'm surprised the "Metal Bottom" GM 24208465 style filter is still produced, Leave it to the aftermarket to make an obsolete part

You need GM 24208576 filter kit,Comes with a OEM gasket.
