4L60E Extreme Slipping
1998 Z28 with 105K miles. Tranny was serviced approximately 10K miles ago with Dex VI
Driving on the highway, the car briefly downshifted while making a pass. Drove an additional 20 miles without any symptoms out of the ordinary.
While exiting the highway, the car downshifted to 3rd (while braking) and never recovered. The transmission began slipping immediately when applying throttle, and I was never able to get it above 35 MPH after I brought it to a stop. It shifts into reverse, 1st and hits 2nd while acting like it has a 6K stall TC in it. I parked it after a mile or so and got a tow before I did any further damage.
Quick fix?
My thought is that it was locked on the highway, hiding its symptoms. When the car slowed, it unlocked and showed its failure.
