just local but need to expand .......trying to find one built already nextstep is to find one and have it built.....looks like it would be cheaper to go th400, I guess that's an option if anyone wants to chime in...

If you decide to go TH400 we can help you with that for sure. We have them on the shelf and ready to ship!

What are you planning to use the truck for? that may help you decide on which way to go.

It's a gutted fox body set up for strip but want to drive to cruise Ins and shows and play at track some

Definitely use a sponsor on this site either way. If you do get a trans locally, don't depend on someone telling you it was rebuilt.
I bought a "running" 80E trans and had it rebuilt anyway.
This way I know it was done and I only have to R&R once!

Unless you really want the over drive feature of the 4L80E, I would suggest going with the TH400. You'll still be 1:1 in high gear and with the proper converter setup(we can help with that too) you can have a solid piece with a good balance of strip and street performance. and not to mention it will be much easier on the wallet vs. a quality 4L80E build.
