There is really no definite best...but there are a few greats such as FLT, Performabuilt, RPM, Jakes trans, Rossler.
FLT, Performabuilt, and I think RPM are Sponsors on this forum and can help you out, they are all very reputable companies with proven transmissions and can lead you in the right direction. Rossler is also known for very strong 4L60E units.
I would also stay away from Monster Trans. Our Shop, as well as others, have not had good luck with them. I have also heard negative things about PATC built trans.
What is the application and intended use, as well as what mods and estimated HP are you running? Sometimes a 4L80E may be the cheaper and more logical answer.
