Default TH350 swap

Yes I have been using the search button but would like to ask a few questions before tackling this project . To start off I have a gutted 99 Camaro 3,0xx weight that I drove last year with just bolt ons with a stock 4L60e and a FTI 3800 stall and trans cooler. So this year I did a cam swap 233/239 older tsp cam and when the car went to get dynoed 1st to 2nd gear took a crap on the dyno. The car made 396/456 . It also has 4.10 gears in the rear . Once all this is figured out I was going to spray 150-200 shot .

Since my trans took a slight crap I'm looking for a relatively cheap way to get back to racing and the occasionally cruising around. I was looking at doing a TH350 swap to save some weight and the cost of parts for them. This is the list I put together for parts and wanted to know if I'm missing anything.

163.00 flexplate / adapter with bolts
249.99-350.00 converter
$50.00 cross member mount ( found a used one)
$25.00 trans rubber mount
$52.00 trans dipstick

$$$ transmission

Is there anything else that I would need ? Also what would be the best th350 to swap in to keep cost down. I know to look for a 9" tail shaft.

My other big question is once installed how does the car know to shift since I'll be getting rid of all the computer crap. I'm assuming I'll always be shifting or do I just leave it in third for cruising around town ?

Another thing is with the converter I'm looking for a decent size stall 4500+ would this be ideal for my set up . I plan on spraying . I found a few used stalls a 9.5" and a 10".

Also I'm pretty sure I know my 4L60 torque converter won't work right. I was just wondering since it doesn't have many miles on it and cost over $800 new.

I appreciate some help wth this swap seeing it's a budget build.

I've been beating on my th350 for 15yrs I've owned my Nova.
Stock rebuild with a trans go shift kit.
2 diffrent converters and 2 different engines.
1st was a 355 that went a 11.7's @ 113/114 and as of 2013 my 406.
The times and the car are in my sig.
That same trans/converter now resides in my sons malibu with a 406 also.
The punishing continues!
I have the streetfighter converter in the garage if you like?
That's what the 355 went 11.7's with!
Here's the pass.

You will need a new cross member to mount the torque arm to. I can’t recall if the TH350 has a tail housing with the mounting bosses to bolt up a torque arm.
