Where to get T400 converters for LS1?

Default Where to get T400 converters for LS1?

Sorry if its a stupid question, been a manual guy since the begining and dont know much about the autos, but after my 4th T-56, im leaning in that direction. The only one i saw was on TR for about 680 bucks. Any info or advice would be grately appreciated

I just switched from M6 to the TH-400. It took me a little longer to switch - I went through 6 T-56's.

I got my complete conversion kit from MadMan--one of our sponsors -- over there >>>

Easy swap. Came with everything except the shifter.

I got my TH350 converter from Yank. They do TH400s as well.

I've got a Precision Industries 4000 RPM multi-disc converter with the #7 GM pump in my TH-400 all I can say is it ROCKS !!!!

I've nothing but pleasant experiences in buying from Precision Industries , and the Vigilante converter is a fantastic converter to use! I've always received top notch, excellent customer service with them.

Whichever company you choose, just make sure you specify that the torque converter is for a TH400, sitting behind an LS1 motor. It matters, as the LS1 crank pilot bearing is not the same size as a SBC or LT1 crank's pilot bearing.

If you don't specify, they may assume it's for a S/BBC motor, and the pilot and the converter height will be all wrong.

you can use a regualar 350/400 convertor but you will need a 2001+ 6.0L flywheel. it has a built in hub extension and comes with longer bolts. dont use regular LS1 bolts with this flywheel, they will come out. this is what i use so i can buy cheaper off the self convertors.

The one thing I would suggest is buy the best converter you can find. Think of it this way, all the money you put into to your motor to go fast can quickly be defeated by an inefficient converter. It's the sole link between your motor and drivetrain. Good luck with your decision.

Has anyone else done it like taqwache way by using a 6.0L flex plate and bolts?

I thought there was an adapter needed as well that was seperate?.

So the 6.0L flexplate has LS1 flange bolt up pattern with TH350/400 Converter spaced bolt holes?

Will this setup give correct pilot size, converter height etc?
