Default 4L60E Input Shaft Question

Hey guys I got a new 4l60e trans for my 98 Camaro Z28, and I noticed on the end of the input shaft where the hole is, is open. Looking at my old 4l60e input shaft there is a cross looking piece in there, I'll post a picture of what I am talking about. I'm just wondering which one is correct? Or should that piece be in there? Thanks.

It meters TCC Release Oil, Removing it will quicken TCC Apply. If your using a aftermarket converter without damper springs (Billet Clutch)......The Capsule NEEDS to be there or the Input Drum will take a beating.

It gets annoying also. Put it back in. Make sure the one you install has "two slots" in it on the back side of the capsule. You do not want to use one that has one slot in it.

Man thanks guys, I'm glad I noticed it. Why would it not be there I don't understand it. I do have an aftermarket converter too, I just bought a Yank SS4000 converter I'm putting in there.
