4l60e v6 trans to fit v8

My friend said he would give me his 4l60e out of a 2002 v6 camaro. I have a 1997 firebird formula 5.3l and needing to use a 4l60e trans with it. Is there a way to make this work? I've heard you have to change the bell housing.

So all I would have to do is change the bell housing and input shaft? I'm already getting a stall converter and was going to buy a kit to rebuild the trans.
