Default Possible Damage from Converter Pilot (too short)

So I recently took out my thrust bearing in my stroked Ls2 nitrous motor. Every main bearing had severe heat marks and the crank needed to be turned .010 under.

4L80e Stage 3 with Rossler D3 Brake
CAT SFI Flexplate

After taking my converter into my local shop who built it, he asked if I was running the pilot extender since I'm running a 4L60e flexplate. I said no.... I didn't know it was needed When he built the converter he was under the impression that I was running the spacer and did not add the needed length to the pilot. He has now added an extended pilot onto the converter in order for it to fully seat into the crank. The converter looked brand new upon inspection (inside and out) and the hub that goes into the pump still looked new. There were no signs of "ballooning" or damage.

So, my question is... What are the possible damages from the converter not being seated into the crank? I've tried reading up on this but can only find info on it being needed but not what the possible side effects would be so to speak.

The pump bushing & pump gears/pump housing can be damaged by that.

If every journal had heat marks that sounds like an oiling problem. Of course the thrust will be damaged too it can't carrybas much load by design.

The pilot has to fit into crank or adapter. It's up to the installer to check this.

Fix the oiling problem.
