4l60E 3rd Gear Vibration
I just bought the car back in Feb., it is a 2001 Firebird WS.6 with a 4L60E and I have a weird vibration in the car in 3rd gear around 40 MPH under normal throttle. I havent really given it any super hard pulls yet cause the guy I bought it from sold me a bit of a tail. Since I have had it, I have replaced every front suspension piece, bushing, joint, etc. And I just replaced the rear axle bearings and u-joints cause the car had a wicked shimmy from around 40 to all speeds up. Now that those are all gone I can really feel the shake in the trans. It goes away as soon as it shifts into drive around 50 MPH, and there is nothing there in 1st and 2nd. It hits third and the whole car shakes. I should mention that it has a 3500 RPM stall (or so i was told and so it acts). I havent actually opened anything up yet to see. also, under normal throttle, about half depressed, when it shifts into drive, the RPM's go up by about 1200 before it actually engages...it really feels like it is slipping to me...I am thinking I need a new Tranny...
any thoughts about anything I can try to figure that out? I am not a proponent of changing fluid after a tranny starts to slip, that in my experience leads to them failing alot quicker..
i am going to look at the mount and see what that looks like...any other suggestions?
Thanks,
NUB.
