Default tci outlaw shifter noob

just started looking into these and cant find anything on if installed do you always have to manually shift now or is there still an equivalent "drive" to put it into and let the car shift itself if you want perfect shifts or just being lazy

it will be installed on a 4l60e if it makes a difference

do all gated shifters like the tci outlaw eliminate the computer completely? if so do they shorten the life of the trans at all I'd assume no but don't know much of anything about these

The transmission itself will function the same with an aftermarket shifter as it would with a stock shifter. The aftermarket shifter just has more features.

so if you put the car in what would be 4th with the tci and take off the car will still start itself in 1st and cycle through the gears itself? because I feel like looking at everything the tci or hurst quarter stick etc you always have to shift the gears.

Shifter doesn't affect how the transmission performs. If your new shifter is in 4 it will be no different as when your factory shifter was in od. With an electronically shifter transmission, an aftermarket shifter is pretty much just for look.
