Default TH400 rebuild kit decisions

hi there first time trans builder and first time poster.
I recently acquired my TH400 that I'm using in a turbo LS S10. the trans was bought from a friend who bought two in a package deal with no info on them because he was having a guy rebuild his anyway, so I got this trans for $100 and decided I would rebuild this myself figured it would be something I could learn from, so I watched some videos and go a book for specs and some good info and I have got the trans torn down. Now its time to rebuild it I've been looking around at some kits and see $100 ebay ones and $250 jegs ones, I was wondering if I could get any input this motor is a stock 5.3 with a BW S475 on around 8psi. I also planned on using the transgo stage 3 shift kit also. if anyone could point me in the direction of a good kit kinda on a budget like everyone else (broke college kid)

I might get flamed for this, but being on a college student budget I recommend this. One of the e mandatory things that should be changed is the center support bushing. Inspect all other bushings for wear, you may find that they are fine. I would also spend the $60 and go with the 4 clutch intermediate setup. Go to your local whatever it takes transmission and buy your clutches for $3.00ish a peice (tan which is fine) get all of your lip seals, pump gasket... and filter and pan gasket. Didn t mention if you are going t brake/rmvb. Don't worry about the inner piston lip seals on either the direct or forward drums... don't need them. Oh... and don't forget the valvebody gaskets. I guess what im saying is, you can get away without buying an entire kit.

Oh, and be absolutely sure to check your converter charge pressure. If it's out of hand, that transmission will make short work of your motor. There's a cheap way to take care of the issue, Google it and you will quickly find the solution.

noted thanks for the input got the trans all torn down and just doing some more research on it for now, thanks for the help as this is all kinda new to me
