Default FLP or Rossler 4L60E

I can't decide which would be the best one to buy...I'm looking at the stage 3 from Rossler and stage 5 from FLP. Any pro's or con's from either?

I will be putting in the level 4 FLP
But am still on the fence and could go in a lot of different directions .
They all install about the same stuff.
I think most a4 4l60e transmissions don't hold up to much even with the good parts.

Its a shame ?

See my recent post "transmission woes" Now I am not saying the FLP tranny is bad because it has performed very well under load...but this all of a sudden god awful grinding sound coming from the tranny does not sit well.

I am going to call Chuck at FLP tomorrow to see if he has any ideas.

Cliff notes: I like my FLP tranny until recently!

I have a rossler T400 and I'm very happy with it. Carl is a super nice guy and very knowledgable. I don't really know anything about FLP though.

I would like to hear which holds up best as in the 4l60e
Rossler makes a great old tech trans but nobdy seems to make a strong 4 speed.
The C5 vette guys aRE stuck with the 4l60e - 65 to date.

I went with FLP.
I was told that they would build me a Stage 4 that can handle the 550>600rwhp i will dish out on N20.
From previous threads, they have had a lot of praises. Also $1995.00 with exchange is not bad.

Rossler all the way. I have one of his TH400 in my CE, one in the Formula, A buddy has one in his car. Two guys around me have his TH350. Friend down the road has his 4l60e in his vette and ran it all last season and this season running 10.3? all motor. Put a Rossler 4l60e in for a guy who is running 11.0? with spray on a stock motor. The LPE vette that went high 8's has a Rossler 4l60e. W2W uses Rossler for there turbo truck.
Rossler machines his own billet parts for these trannies. I learned the hard way about trannies. I now won't use anyone else. You might spend more at the beginning but it will be cheaper in the long run.

Thumbs up Rossler Trans A+++

I'm Fortunate that Rossler trans is a "local" guy for me, but I can honestly tell you that the man knows his s**t. He has done all of my trans work and my buddies too over the years. The only problem that i ever heard of was one friend had a tranny done by him and the convertor was a bad unit (i think from ATI) any how it took the tranny out with it. Carl redid the tranny (at no cost) and got him a good deal on a new convertor to boot. Carl has done my 350 turbo, my 700R4 in my 86 Monte SS (that runs 11.9s thru the muffs and weighs 3550 w/o driver with power seat and windows) and has now done the 400 for my 70 Buick GS with a 700 HP +.030 502 in it. Carl will always take the time to explain things and help you make the right decision. Yes he is not the cheapest game in town, but i never feel like i didn't get what i paid for. He has had the opportunity to sell me things i thought i needed but even talked me out of them saying "You don't really need that for your combination." Thats my side of the story and i'm stickin to it. By the way i have a Vigilante 3200 convertor for sale. Only about 1 month on it and about 10 1/4 mile passes. It worked great but i didn't feel like changing wheels all the time, cause you will definately need some drag radials.

I also forgot to mention that Carl does all the trans for LPE (Lingenfelter Performance Engineering), so what does that tell ya.

Just call the guy, his name is Carl. He told me around 2600 for the top of the line trans. They don't have cores laying around though. You have to send them your trans.

Most likely a planetary. Nothing Rossler, FLP, or really anyone has any control over. There are only very limited suppliers of such parts for them to choose from.

Default Another toasted 4l60e

Well it looks like 4 passes at the track has caused some damage.
I took the c5 for a ride.
Just a slow cruz and the trans temps went straight up to 250 I have a cooler B&M 24000 does anyone have any input

I have about 50 low 11 passes on my rossler and i couldnt be happier. Some one above stated they all use the same parts. Thats not true with Carl. he custom makes the 3-4 clutch pack and a few other parts
He also refreshes the transmission at a greatly reduced rate. Thats not to say FLP is not good. I went with Rossler for there expertise and the 3-4 clutch pack.
