Default 4L60E Interchangeability

i have bought a bad 1998 4L60E from Craigslist, didnt know till I took the pan off at home, so now starts my rebuild, The Input Shaft on this trans I found out is the wrong one for me. I need a 298mm and this is s 245mm. Can I just discard the 245mm Input Shaft/ Drum and Pump and just replace with a 298mm Input Shaft/ Drum and Pump.

i have The Beast Sunshell to replace in it also, while apart, can I just swap out the 4 pinion for a 5 pinion gear?

I have all the other bearings/ bushings/ Gaskets that I’ll need along with pinless pistons and a TransGo seperator plate.

I've never encountered a 245mm input shaft 4L60E, but I know they came on some V6 engine cars. I suspect you can just swap in a 298mm input shaft/Drum, but an expert should confirm that.

Swapping in a 5 pinion front planetary ABSOLUTELY requires the correct reaction carrier shaft and bearing. All the recently manufactured 5 pinion units are incompatible with a pre-2005(?) reaction carrier shaft. I have documented this with necessary part numbers and pics in this thread:

Thanks for the quick response, I’ll stick with the 4 pinion. It’s in good shape,
Can I use my current 245mm 13 vane pump and just change the Stator Shaft to a 298mm, so I can use with the other 298 Input Shaft/ Drum?

Are the stator shafts interchangeable on a trans pump of the same year (245mm to a 298mm) or should I just buy a pump with a 298mm shaft already?

Sorry, but one of the pros will have to answer those questions.

245mm & 298mm Stator Supports are the same, You will need to change your Boost Valve out for a larger one.

That's music to my ears, Thank you. I have a .500 Transgo Boost Valve and springs to install.
