Fresh TH400 Question
I just rebuilt my TH400 and everything went together great, except the detent solenoid. The trans was built with a factory valve body which has all the modifications to convert it to full manual shift. Plugged the governor tube ports, looped governor fluid, 1-2 shift overide removed.
My problem came when I bolted down the detent solenoid to the spacer plate. The detent solenoid I have is the square style which has an open coil thats exposed. It also has a rectangle shaped metal cage which is spot welded to the mounting plate. When I went to torque the bolts I noticed one of the spot welds on the metal cage broke loose. This leads me to believe it will leak when in operation.
I looked over the hydraulic diagram, and I really can't make out if this is going to be a problem or not.
Any advice is appreciated.

Dana, thanks for your response. What I ended up doing was I filled the case passage feeding the detent solenoid. Then I bolted the solenoid down over it. Hopefully it works.
Hahaha, well I was kind of in a hurry because I had two TH400's to build and my wife and I are having our first child. So I am running around trying to get all my stuff done before kiddo gets here. I really wanted to make a build thread but I just didn't have the time.
