Default 4L80E spacer

Usually I use the 80E flywheel/spacer, but this time I am using the curved FW, and the round Hughes spacer. With the converter pushed back, I have aprx .160 conv. pad to FW pad. When I pull the conv. forward, it stops aprx .080 before touching the pads. So there is a .080 gap. I could make some shims, maybe .100, or pull the trans and cut the spacer. I know the FW needs some room to "flex". Having lost a thrust bearing in another engine, obs this is something I wont to consider, taking stress off the crank.
Opinions, best route.

Decided to pull the spacer, mill off enough to reach the pads, plus additional .080 to allow the conv. to "move" if the FW flexes, hopefully take off stress to the thrust bearing. Did some research, app. this is what others did. I will meas the pullout and if to far space the conv. accordingly.
