Default Changes required when replacing a late 4L80e with an early version?

Hi, I have a 2003 4L80e that is not worth repairing and was wanting to know what changes would be required to install an earlier version? I’m in Australia and these gearboxes are few and far between with only the 91-95 versions being stocked by the performance importers. I know the cooler return line is nearer the bell housing but have also read about differences with the force motor frequency and TCC being on/off without PWM. Are the TCC solenoid and force motor different? It’s bolting up to a LQ4 block so is there also a bolt hole missing in the bellhousing? Any info would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Phil

Thanks for the info Jay's. I do need to use the selector switch so is there a boss in the casting for it I could drill and tap or would I need to make up a custom bracket? Also is the selector shaft long enough to take the switch?
