Default Recommedations for a Stage3 4L60E/4L70E

Hello Everyone!! I am in the process of putting a new LQ9 6.0 370CID 550hp in my 56 Chevy BelAir. The Transmission is a stock 4L60E. I would like to go to a stage 3 4L60E or 4L70E and was wondering if i upgraded to the 4L70E is everything still the same other than tuning? I have looked at a few rebuilders such as Gearstar, Monster, TransmissionDepot, Texas speed and a few other. Gearstar seems to be the most expensive and Trans Depot the Cheapest. I am guessing you get what you pay for? Any recommendations for a good reputable shop that ships out Transmissions?

thanks,
Keith R

Performabilt here. They stand by their warranty. I had a pump failure and they fixed it even though warranty was way past expired.

That said RPM and FLT are top of the line too. IMO I would get a Performabuilt, RPM, or FLT 3 stage over a factory new 70 - cheaper too .

I run a performabuilt. Many passes at the dragstrip and 0 issues. They're also very reasonable on prices when you want to upgrade the transmission.

Finish Line Transmissions(FLT). I'm sure RPM and Perfomabuilt make great stuff as well, but my only personal experience was with FLT. Super nice guys with an awesome product. I'm fortunate enough to live 40 minutes from them. Nice shop too. Good luck.

A well built 4l60e from RPM,Performabuilt, and FLT have all of the same upgrades and enhancements as the 4l75E and more. So IMO cost wise perhaps cheaper to stick with a 4l60E built by one of the three mentioned.

Don't know about RPM and FLT but you don't have to send in a core with Performabuilt. That's a savings in shipping costs which isn't cheap depending on where you live.
