Default Ratchet Shifter in Stock 4L60E

Hi Guys, I have a 5.3 Vortec with a stock 4L60E going into a 1985 S10 pickup and thinking about a floor shifter that looks good, is compact and functions well. I saw and tried the B&M Quicksilver shifter at one of the car shows. Since it is a ratchet shifter and I am not going to race it is this shifter practical or a waste of money or just not the right shifter for my application? I know if you leave it in D it would shift up by itself, but it has nice detents that prevent it from going into reverse or park at the wrong time. Any input or experience would be appreciated.

I have the B&M stealth pro ratchet in my S10 and I like it BUT you will have to get used to two hand shifting to go from F to R since it has the lockout.
